We moved into the space on Mississippi Ave in the summer of 2008 and Land Gallery officially opened in 2009 with a solo show by Northwest legendary paper-cut artist Nikki McClure.

We hosted monthly art shows continuously for eleven years. Our last show was Amy Ruppel’s In Situ: Refugia where she painted a stunning series on the effects of climate change.

The pandemic closed Land Gallery and when restrictions finally lifted, we found that we were just too tired to keep the party going — at least for now. So, Land had it’s last show in February of 2020 and we converted the current gift shop and gallery to more production space.

Land Gallery was the physical, retail manifestation of buyolympia.com — the now 25-year-old older brother of the gallery — who still occupy the building today, doing everything we’ve always done; featuring and supporting artists from the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Buyolympia turns 25 years old in July of 2024.

Land Gallery is now officially the print arm of buyolympia.com — responsible for high quality artists prints made using either our in-house Risograph Studio or our large collection of high-end giclee printers.

Almost every one of the 3,000+ prints you see on buyolympia are produced in-house by our small, but very experienced team.

This sub-site is now a tribute to what we once were, a gallery and community space, and features details on every show we hosted and artist we worked with.

We wouldn’t still be here without the incredible support of the Portland community and beyond. Thank you to those who both presented and came to shows over the years.

The gallery and shop remain closed. Because of our extremely small size and lack of adequate ventilation, we’re unable to re-open at this time. Our online sister shop remains open and we’re currently offering free shipping for all orders over $50. We are unable to offer order-pickup at this time.

Adaptation is a collection of small works by Portland, Oregon illustrators who are interested in exploring the line between illustration, design and fine art.

Each piece offers a little window into the soul of the maker, a snapshot of what artists have been creating during the pandemic while their usual resources are unavailable.
