We’re lucky here at Land to not just be artist-focused, but artist-driven. This is our first ever group show featuring people who work at both Land and our sister organization buyolympia.com
Drama ’64 — Slurpee Witches, Sushi Matadors & The Clean Teen Queens; battling ideas, intuition, and gluten. Matty is a freelance illustrator working in Portland, Oregon; creating work for Adobe, Variety, and Bitch magazine. He is a contributing artist for Portland Monthly.
Molly Mendoza’s illustrations combine storytelling and rhythm with wild dry-brush and bold color. In the past she has explored personal narrative, playground jungles, chaotic bus-rides, and interstellar mediums within her work. Her most recent project considers the magic of “summer time” through the eyes of young women — weighing wonder and joy with aggression and disappointment. When Molly isn’t working she is probably watching cheesy sci-fi or eating a hotdog (or both).
Crystal Ayala likes to draw, sculpt, design, and stitch. Her embroideries are inspired by bright colors, geometric shapes, and contrasting textures.
Aubrey Hornor is a ceramicist living in Portland, Oregon who makes hand-built jewelry, housewares and small-scale sculptures. Often working in miniature abstract still-life, she views her process as the harnessing of a fleeting concept or fragment of imagery into a tiny contained composition. Her contribution to Co-Work will include small sculpture and potted plants.
