February 3 – March 3, 2012
Wild at Heart—new work by Trish Grantham and Lisa Congdon—is an homage to the wildly romantic month of February.
Grantham’s work for the show represents her love for animals and, in turn, their love for humanity.
Congdon’s work for the show draws on Victorian notions of romanticism and elegance.
The show opens with both artists in attendence for a free wine reception on February 3, 2012 at 6pm.
The show runs through March 3, 2012 and is free and open to the public.
The show features two incredible artists with very different styles, but within the context of a common theme.
Congdon plays with the tensions between old and new, bright and dark, plain and fancy, serious and whimsical–that are all part of the romantic experience.
For Grantham, the creatures in her paintings “reach out to our wounded land and send true love and heartfelt sentiment and bring us together as one.”
Both artists will leave you quite certain that, animal or human, we are all wild at heart.
Over thirty new pieces will be on the walls of Land Gallery for this exhibition.
Lisa Congdon
San Francisco illustrator and fine artist Lisa Congdon was raised in both upstate New York and Northern California where she grew to love the trees and animals that surrounded her.
That love is now expressed most intensely through her colorful and imaginative paintings, drawings and three-dimensional collages. Congdon’s vast catalog of work is primarily themed around her passion for nature, vintage imagery, geometrics and folk pattern.
Congdon lives and works in the Mission District of San Francisco
Trish Grantham
Trish Grantham, a self-taught painter and emerging Northwest artist, has truly captured our imagination with her playful works. Layering vintage book pages, she paints bold lines mixed with a soft translucent color palette.
She has showed both nationally and internationally from New York City to Tokyo, London and Sydney. Her work pulls the viewer in while a sweet story unfolds letting the viewer peek inside her imagination.
